Working With Us

  • Why do I need a specialist to remove our tank? Can’t any contractor perform the job?

For this type of job, you want someone with the right experience, training, insurance, and equipment. We are experts in this field – in fact, it’s the only type of work we do. Plus, we are an NYSDEC (New York State Department of Environmental Conservation) approved contractor for site remediation.

  • Who will I be working with?

You will be working directly with members of our management team. Site inspections are performed by our company’s owner, Paul Stuart, or our office manager, Sherri Sullivan. Paul is present on every job site, from start to finish.

  • How much do you charge for an installation, abandonment, or removal?

The costs depend on several factors, and each job is unique. We offer a free local site visit to meet with you and review your project. Our estimates are accurate 99% of the time because our experience allows us to foresee any scenario.

  • How soon can you start my project?

The permit process will dictate our start time. Upon receiving the permit, we can usually begin in 7-10 business days.

  • Do you require a deposit? Do you accept credit cards? Do you offer payment plans?

We require a small deposit upfront with payment due the day the work is performed. We accept Master Card and Visa with a 4% convenience fee.

  • Do you work with realtors and real estate agents?

Yes, we work with many different real estate firms and can accommodate the tight timelines associated with the sale or purchase of a home.

The Removal Process

  • Is a permit required for tank removal and installation?

This is based on your town, but in most cases, the answer is yes. TSP will obtain this permit on your behalf at no extra charge.

  • How large of a tank can you remove?

We can remove any size tank, up to 50,000 gallons.

  • How long does a removal/abandonment take?

    One day.

  • What are the chances of my current underground oil tank leaking?

It depends on how your tank was installed, and if it was installed properly. We find that half of all underground tanks eventually start to leak.

  • Will you install a new tank underground?

Yes, as long as your local town or village allows it, and the tank is compliant for burial.

  • If the tank is leaking can you remediate the site?

Yes, we are certified to handle this process. See the Site Remediation page for more information.

  • Do you restore the site upon completion?

Typically we will rake out the disturbed lawn area. We can additionally provide topsoil, seed, and straw to encourage new grass growth. We can remove and re-plant shrubs, but can’t guarantee their survival. If the tank is under a cement patio, we can remove and replace it.

The Installation Process

  • What is involved in a tank installation?

This will depend on the location of the tank, whether it is going in your basement, outside, or in a garage. See the Tank Installation page for more information.

  • How long does a tank installation take?

A basement installation typically takes one day. An outside installation or garage installation typically takes 1.5 days.

  • What type of warranties do the new tanks have?

We are certified installers for Granby and Roth tanks. Granby tanks come with a standard 10-year limited warranty, with options for 20, 25, or 30 years at an additional cost. Roth tanks come with a 30-year limited warranty, and $2M of insurance against property damage caused by a spill.
